Celebrities from television, radio, sport took the time to send Newtown and District Male Voice Choir congratulatory video messages on their success of their tour in Belgium.

First Minster Mark Drakeford praised the choirs’ achievements and reiterated the close bond that Wales has with the people of Flanders, indicating that it was important to maintain these valued relationships going forward.

BBC’s Jason Mohammed wished the choir every success going forward with all their endeavours, and these sentiments were echoed by stars from BBC Wales presenters including Llandrindod Wells’ Sue Charles, Owen Money, Roy Noble and former newsreader Jamie Owen.

The choir were also delighted to hear from musical performers who had shared the stage with the choir at their annual concerts in the past including Shan Cothi, Rhys Meirion, Aled Wyn Davies and Sioned Terry. They all hoped that sometime in the future they would once again be able to join the choir on stage for a performance.

Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams and MS Russell George also took time out of their busy schedules to praise the work the choir did in promoting Newtown and north Powys with their performances and gave special praise to the choir’s musical director, Sarah and accompanist, John, for all the work they do behind the scenes.

The large audience were treated to a video presentation of the choir’s trip to Belgium which culminated in the full recording of the choirs performance at the Menin Gate in Ypres which had been recorded by the choir’s secretary, Claire - a very moving experience. The choir also performed several songs at the event.
