A WELSHPOOL motorist has escaped with a fine and 6 points on his licence after he was spotted driving at 30 miles over the speed limit near the town.
Michael Henry Midwinter, 22, was driving a Kia Ceed on the A483 at Welshpool at around 10.16pm and was seen to reach a speed of 90 miles per hour. Midwinter was recorded by a speedometer travelling at 90mph – the speed limit on the road is 60mph – for a distance of one mile.
Midwinter, of Brandy Cottage, Cilcewydd, near Welshpool, pleaded guilty to a charge of speeding but did not appear at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, November 1.
He was fined £234 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 surcharge, making a total of £358. He will also have six points put on his driving licence.
