MP for Montgomeryshire Craig Williams has been awarded a new role working directly for the Prime Minister.
Mr Williams has been appointed to a new role as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister. This comes as new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak makes new appointments after entering the job on Wednesday following the resignation of former Prime Minister Liz Truss last week.
Mr Williams has been a long-time supporter of Mr Sunak, backing him in the leadership contest in the summer.
The pair have worked closely together before when Mr Williams served as a Parliamentary Private Secretary for Mr Sunak when he had the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer in Boris Johnson’s government.
Mr Williams said yesterday: “I am honoured to have been asked by the Prime Minister to take up the role of his Parliamentary Private Secretary. I look forward to supporting him as he focuses on rebuilding public trust and supporting the economy.
“Now more than ever it is important we focus on the important priorities and as we saw at PMQs today, Rishi is the right person to lead with clarity and focus.”
