A BERRIEW man will have to be wary when driving from now on after he saw 8 points put on his licence for driving without insurance.
George John Morris, 23, was stopped by police for driving while using his mobile phone on April 4 this year. Morris was seen driving a Toyota Auris on Canal Road in Newtown at around 7.02pm by police who pulled him over. On conducting a check it was found that the vehicle also had no insurance.
Morris, of Llettycoed, Berriew, was not at Llanelli Magistrates' Court last Friday, October 21, but had admitted both charges previously.
For driving without insurance he was given 8 points on his licence in addition to a £450 fine. He must also pay £90 costs and a £45 surcharge – making a total of £585. For driving while using his phone there was no separate penalty.
