A TEENAGER has been fined and handed penalty points after being found guilty of careless driving.
Sion Power, 19, was found not guilty of an initial and more serious charge of dangerous driving at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court last week, but he was found guilty of the alternative charge of driving without due care and attention.
The defendant, of Cortay Park, Llanyre, was originally charged with driving a red Ford Fiesta dangerously on the A479 at Pengenffordd, between Crickhowell and Talgarth, on May 6 this year.
Power denied the offence when he initially appeared before magistrates in August and the matter was set down for trial.
He was found not guilty at his trial, held last Wednesday, October 12, but magistrates found him guilty of the alternate charge.
He was fined £370 and had 5 points placed on his driving licence. He must also pay £85 costs and a £37 surcharge.
