A NEWTOWN man’s court order has been extended by six months after he admitted breaching its terms.
Peter Sharratt admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 4.
The 50-year-old had received a community order in August for possession of amphetamines; he had been resentenced for an initial count of possessing speed earlier in the year.
Sharratt was originally sentenced after being caught in May with speed wrapped inside a plastic Kinder egg container, which had been a birthday present.
In July he was then caught with drugs again and led police on a bike chase – he was found to have more than 66 grams of speed on him.

The court had previously been told Sharratt had returned to using drugs following the death of a friend and his uncle.
The bench at Welshpool this week heard Sharratt, of the Bell Hotel in Newtown, breached the order by failing to attend probation appointments on August 25 and September 1, and had failed to provide acceptable evidence as to why.
Probation officer Julian Davies said Sharratt had been given a community order which had included 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days. “He didn’t attend, a warning and breach letters were sent out,” said Mr Davies.
“He has now started to engage and has attended his last two appointments. He is showing some cooperation. I would ask it to continue and to extend for six months.”
Representing himself, Sharratt said: “I don’t really know what to say, I’ve been struggling. I’m guilty.
“I lost my phone, but I have one now. I have quit the stuff, there was also a bereavement in the family too.”
Magistrates agreed to extend the order by 6 months. They also fined Sharratt £40 and he must pay £60 costs.
