A POWYS man accused of raping a teenage girl is to appear at the crown court next month.
Callum Jones appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court this week where his case was immediately sent to the higher court.
Jones, 22, is accused of raping a girl on January 31, 2019, in Llanidloes. He was 18 at the time of the alleged offence.
Rape is an indictable-only offence which means it can only be heard at the crown court. Magistrates sitting in Welshpool on Tuesday, September 6, immediately sent the case to Mold Crown Court. He did not enter a plea.
Jones, of Caegwyn, Llanidloes, will appear at Mold on October 4. He was issued with bail conditions, which are not to contact prosecution witnesses by any means.
