An independent special school in Powys border has achieved an 100 per cent pass rate for third straight year.
The Bettws Lifehouse Independent Special School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in exam results spanning approximately 60 separate full qualification entries, including A Levels, GCSEs and BTECs.
The school – which has sites in Bettws Cedewain, Welshpool and a new site soon opening at Kingsland Grange in Shrewsbury – provides a more specialist education than mainstream schools for children with a range of social and emotional needs, moderate learning difficulties or on the ASD spectrum.
Headteacher Nici Jones said: “We are so pleased with what the pupils have achieved. It just goes to show that with the right environment and support it is possible for all pupils to achieve both socially and academically."

“I am very proud of our staff team; they all share in our belief that everyone has something to bring to the table and these results reinforce our ethos and commitment to facilitating all our pupils to aim high!”
Kay Jones, managing director of Bettws Lifehouse, added: “Everyone was delighted and so proud that pupils had achieved so well.
“Whilst every child should be rightly proud of their achievements, we are absolutely delighted with our pupils who have achieved such good results having worked through their additional challenges too.
“Pupils at Bettws Lifehouse have a range of specialist needs, which is why we provide a specifically tailored curriculum for children who need more support to achieve their full potential.
“Achieving a 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s GCSEs and at Level 3, bucking the national trend, is a real source of pride for everyone here and we want to congratulate every single pupil on their hard work and dedication.”
