NEWTOWN Cricket Club will celebrate its 175th anniversary on Sunday.

The club invites all past players to attend with a special T20 game between a Newtown Select and Presidents' XI starting at 2.30pm.

There will be a BBQ running from 3pm and the bar will be open all day.

Club spokesman John Anthony said: "We would love to celebrate this momentous occasion with as many of people as possible, from sponsors, players, ex players, juniors, parents, supporters and anybody else who fancies a good day out."

Since the club was founded in 1847, all home games have been played at the Recreation Ground, which provides a scenic backdrop for players, visitors and supporters alike.

The first team currently play in the Shropshire Division One with the reserves competing in division five.

#The club also have a vibrant youth academy, with a successful U15's side, plus more than Allstars and Dynamos. The club have also introduced Ladies softball training and are looking to expand on this going forward

The youth academy continues to grow from strength to strength, with the majority of the current senior team players having come through the ranks.
