The president of the upcoming Llanfair Caereinion Show is preparing for an array of competitions and attractions to descend on the town for the annual event.
Scheduled to be held at Llysun, Llanerfyl on September 3, the show’s organisers are hoping to keep all attendees entertained throughout the day.
The event is returning for the first time since 2019, as the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the 2020 and 2021 events being postponed.
This year’s show President is Glandon Lewis, a partner and auctioneer at Morris Marshall and Poole, which encompasses Welshpool, Oswestry and Rhayader livestock markets.
Mr Lewis has a connection with Llanfair Caereinion Show that spans over four decades, having won the under 18s Clay pigeon Shooting competition back in 1981.

He was the show commentator in years prior, before taking responsibility for the show draw in 2002 and the sheep section in 2007.
Mr Lewis said: “During that period of time with three different venues at Pentre & Brongarth, Mathrafal and Llysun, we as a community have experienced great challenges be it in agriculture or even in everyday life.
“However, our Annual Show demonstrates the quality and ethos of our good people showing strength, motivation and good working relationships.”
Mr Lewis has used his position as Show President to organise a number of fundraising activities for the show and Llanfair based charities, such as the President’s Lunch, which was held on June 10 and included a charity auction.
The promise auction was conducted by Jonathan Evans and Glandon Lewis.
Overall, the lunch raised £23,000, which is to be shared with Wales Air Ambulance, Lingen Davies, Diabetes UK, Farming Network Community and Llanfair Carnival and Christmas Lights.
A Sunday Lunch to follow the 2022 show has been organised by Llanfair Caereinion Young Farmers Club, featuring a raffle and charity auction. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Breast Cancer Now, the show and the Young Farmers Club.
Anyone interested in contributing to the raffle, auction, or give any kind of support, is encouraged to contact Caryl Lewis on 07581 676655.
