Year 11 pupils at Welshpool High School were pleased to receive their GCSE results after a tumultuous few years of studying.
The Covid-19 pandemic made the process of studying and preparing for exams all the more complicated for students, with pupils who received their results on August 25, 2022, being the first to sit exams since before the onset of the pandemic.
Assistant Headteacher Drew Whitley said: “Year 11 pupils have worked exceptionally hard in what has been a challenging time in education and I want to congratulate them for the resilience they have shown and thank parents for the support they have given along the way.

“In partnership with our families, Welshpool High School staff have ensured that no pupil has been left behind, and we are confident that this year's results highlight the enormous effort of the whole school community.
“Particular mention must go to the following pupils who achieved all of their qualifications at A*-A, a fantastic and well deserved set of results; Zoe Baker, Samuel Cadwallader, Holly Davies, Ffion Evans, Maddison Griffiths, Tomos Haine, Elen Jones, Gwen Kuipers, Zac McCourt and, Mackenzie Watkins.
“The grades achieved by all our pupils are a true reflection of their efforts and mean that they can progress on to the next stage of their life with confidence.
“Congratulations all pupils, and we wish them every success for the future.”
One of the students accepting their results, Tomos Haine, said: “I’m really relieved to get the results and see that the hard work paid off. I’m slightly annoyed with my advanced maths results but otherwise very pleased with everything else.
“I’m looking forward to studying chemistry, physics, biology and maths at Sixth Form next year.”
