A POWYS man has lost his driving licence after he was stopped by police and found to be under the influence of alcohol in a supermarket car park.
Robin Andrew Boyce, 67, was more than double the drink drive limit when police spoke with him in Aldi car park in Llandrindod Wells on August 5.
Boyce, of Sunnyhaven Park, Howey, was driving a Kia Sportage at the time of the incident, with police pulling him over as he was driving into the car park from Station Crescent.
A reading provided by the defendant showed there to be 87 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath – the legal limit for alcohol is 35 micrograms.
Boyce pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 22.
He was banned from driving for 22 months but can reduce this by 168 days if he completes a drink driving rehabilitation programme. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
