LLANDRINDOD Wells avoided a potential JD Welsh Cup second qualifying round upset with a 3-1 win at home to Knighton Town today.

The Spamen raced into a three goal lead inside the opening half hour with goals from Liam Hall, Darryl Nicholls and Danny Hall before Kieran Dovey reduced the arrears before the break.

Meanwhile Tom Jones starred with two goals as Abermule secured their progress with a 4-2 win at home to Presteigne St Andrews.

Jones' opener on 29 minutes separated the sides for much of the game before doubling his tally after the break.

Jamie Blythe reduced the arrears before Josh Jones restored the villager's two goal cushion with Callum Thomas once again replying for the visitors before Charlie Humphreys settled the outcome during a frantic finale.

Bow Street battled to a 2-1 win at Dolgellau AA to seal their progress with Jonathan Harrison's own goal proving decisive for Street after Gerwyn Williams cancelled out Sion Ewart's opener.

Penparcau battled to a 2-0 win at Montgomery Town to continue their Welsh Cup adventure.

Ryan Edwards' 35th minute strike separated the sides for much of a well-contested tie before Mark Gornall came off the bench to settle the outcome with a minute remaining.

Machynlleth toasted a penalty shoot out win at home to Waterloo Rovers after the sides battled out a 2-2 draw at Cae Glas.

Steve Jones gave Rovers a 22nd minute lead before a David Roberts own goal saw the hosts level at the break.

Dillon Browne fired the hosts ahead with 11 minutes remaining only for Tom Ellis to send the game to penalties with an 82nd minute equaliser with Sion Jones netting the decisive penalty in a 5-4 win.

Barmouth United's cup adventure ended at Glantraeth who led through Luke Winter's strike before the Magpies levelled through Paul Lewis' penalty with the hosts prevailing 4-3 on penalties.

Meanwhile Brecon Corries sealed their progress on penalties after a 4-4 thriller at Cardiff Draconians.

Joel Evans struck twice for Corries with Craig Evans and Nathan Williams completing their tally while Adam Rees netted a double with goals from Matthew Hibbs and Callum Nippers ensuring the hosts sent the tie to penalties with the Powys side prevailing 9-8.
