A man will face trial at crown court for allegedly growing up to £20,000 worth of cannabis in a “sophisticated set-up” at his Powys village home.
Police officers found 28 cannabis plants after they searched Ashley Gentles’ home in Llanymynech on January 4.
The 35-year-old gave no plea to the charge of producing the controlled Class B drug when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (August 16).
The court was told that police officers found cannabis with a street value of between £15,000 and £20,000 at the property in Tan-y-Foel Drive.

Justin Espie, prosecutor, said: “Police attended the defendant’s address where they smelt cannabis. They searched the property and found in a room a sophisticated set-up with a ventilation system growing drugs worth £15,000 to £20,000 in street value. The Crown states that this puts it beyond personal use.”
Paul Inns, acting on behalf of Mr Gentles, gave no representations in court.
Mr Gentles, of Tan-y-Foel, Llanymynech was released on unconditional bail to appear at Mold Crown Court on September 16.
