A POWYS motorist found to be towing an unsecure load has escaped with a small fine and three points after admitting multiple driving offences.
Ronald Richard Price was stopped driving a Kia Sorento on Wellington Road, Llandrindod Wells, on February 21 this year. He was towing a trailer behind the vehicle at around 10.49am with its use said to have been in danger of causing injury to someone.
Magistrates sitting in Llanelli on Thursday, August 11, said the danger was “because of a large bale of straw/hay in the back that was sat roughly three feet above the sides and the bale was seen to roll around on the bed of the trailer”.
Price, 72, was not at court but had previously pleaded guilty to using a vehicle on a road causing a danger of injury.
Price, of Cambrian House, Builth Road, Builth Wells, also admitted three other charges; including using a trailer with no rear registration plate, using a motor vehicle without having a secondary coupling device fitted and using a vehicle on a road while failing to maintain its lamps in working order.
Price was fined £80 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 surcharge. His driving licence was also endorsed with 3 points.
For each of the other three offences magistrates made no separate penalty.
