THE summer heatwave came to an abrupt halt on the Powys border last night.
Presteigne Bowling Club players were six ends into their friendly match at home to Eardisland when torrential rain drenched the field, making play impossible.
Following a week long spell of searingly hot weather both sets of players could have been forgiven for expecting a dry night.
