A POWYS motorist has received a fine of more than £500 after he was caught behind the wheel nearly twice the legal drink drive limit, and then resisted arrest.
Jacek Duszynski, 48, was stopped driving a Skoda Octavia in Brecon on March 12 this year. He was arrested following a positive roadside breath test in the Parc Tarell area, with a later reading showing there to be 196 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his urine – the legal limit in urine analysis is 107 milligrams.
Duszynski, of Coach House, Trefecca Fawr, near Brecon, admitted drink driving when appearing at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Friday, August 12. He also admitted resisting a constable, PC Helyer, in the execution of his duty, also at Brecon.
For drink driving, magistrates fined Duszynski £300 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £40 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 16 months; he can reduce this by 25 per cent if he completes a drink drive awareness course.
For resisting arrest he must pay an additional £100 fine.
