A YOUNG female motorist has been disqualified from driving for 18 months after she was pulled over in Powys with excess amounts of both cocaine and cannabis in her system.
Jasmine Denise Stead, 22, was stopped driving a VW Polo in Llyswen, near Builth Wells, on January 30 this year.
Stead, of Lluest, Ystradgynlais, was arrested after providing positive roadside tests for both drugs. Later readings revealed she had 378 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine – a compound of cocaine – in her blood, exceeding the specified limit which is 50 micrograms; she also had 2.3 micrograms of cannabis in her system, with the legal limit being 2mcgs.
Stead admitted two charges of drug driving when she appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 8.
In addition to the 18-month driving ban, Stead was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
