A WELSHPOOL man arrested on Christmas Day is to face trial over allegations he assaulted several police officers.
John O’Donnell appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court this week where he was faced with a total of seven charges.
Two date back to September 19, 2021, where it is alleged the 32-year-old assaulted PC Cooke and PC Mayor at Newtown Police Station – he denied both of these charges.
O’Donnell, of Borfa Green, Welshpool, also denied a third assault on an officer, PC Underwood, in Welshpool on Christmas Day.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving, taking a vehicle without consent and driving without insurance – all in Welshpool on December 25 last year.
O’Donell is to face two separate trials for the September and December 2021 incidents – the first is to take place at Welshpool on October 24; the second will be on November 7, again in Welshpool.
In the meantime O’Donnell is subject to an interim driving ban.
