ADELE Nicoll has reflected on her Commonwealth Games experience after falling short in her bid for a shot put medal last night.
The Welshpool star ended eighth with a top throw of 17.08m while Sarah Mitton of England claimed gold with a distance of 19.03m with Danniel Thomas-Dodd of Jamaica in second with 18.98m and Maddison-Lee Wesche of New Zealand third with 18.84m.
Nicoll took to her social media to share her thoughts and vowed to return to the highest stage.
She said: "This is sport. It wasn't my time.
"Honestly, I am absolutely devastated with last night. No excuses. I just wanted it so badly that I tried too hard when all I needed to do was relax and execute a performance I'm capable of.
"Nevertheless, at 25 years old I'm a Commonwealth Games finalist and a Winter Olympic athlete, in the same year. If my bad days involve making a major Games final, I've come a long long way."
Nicoll thanked her friends, family and fans for their support during a remarkable year.
She said: "It'll take me a few days to digest but I'll be back. Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting me this year. Especially my close circle who love me unconditionally.
"Thank you to my coach, Ryan Jones, for being my rock throughout, I am excited to progress in my career with you by my side.
"Thank you to Team Wales and Welsh Athletics for an amazing opportunity and for helping nine year old Adele fulfil her dreams."
