A new festival is coming to Newtown to "spread a bit of kindness" with free food and activities for families.
Newtown Fun Fest will be taking place in the Park Grounds on Saturday, September 17, where there will be music, crafts, sports and activities from 11am to 3pm.
Jo Hughes, one of the organising group, said: “We’ll be announcing more details for this event nearer the date but we’re very excited to get the date in people’s diaries.
"The original idea for this event – from Cllr. Joy – was to spread a bit of kindness around Newtown as families deal with the effects of the pandemic and the pressures of the current cost of living crisis. And that’s what we’ll be trying to do, with as many free things as possible available on the day.”
Entry to the event will be free and there will be plenty of free activities and food too, although some stalls may charge for some things.
The festival is organised by a group of organisations, including Powys County Council, the North Powys Wellbeing Programme, local county councillor Cllr. Joy Jones, PAVO, Dyfed-Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Credu, the Youth Service, Newtown Family Integrated Centre, Open Newtown, Sport Powys and Freedom Leisure.
The team is hoping for contributions for the event but the main funders are the North Powys Wellbeing Programme and the Powys Together project.
