A man was rescued after becoming “exhausted and disorientated” in the Elan Valley this week.
The Brecon Mountain Rescue Team came to the aid of the man after he rang Dyfed-Powys Police for help after becoming lost in the area on July 11.
The team did a search of the area with help from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue 187 and Rusty, the dog from Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales.
Fortunately, the man was spotted by the helicopter rescue team and was extracted from the hills by their control vehicle.
It followed an earlier callout to a casualty who had suffered a cardiac arrest near Knighton.
In a statement posted online, the team said: "Our second callout of the day for Monday was to a gentleman who had contacted Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police for assistance in the Elan Valley area.
"The gentleman was exhausted and disorientated and wasn't able to locate himself. The team did a search of a rough area along with Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue 187 and Rusty the dog from Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales.
"Luckily the helicopter spotted the missing person and extracted him off the hill to our control vehicle. The gentleman was checked over and dropped at a nearby campsite to rejuvenate and was very thankful to be off the hill."
