A COVID-19 vaccination centre in Powys will move ahead of this year's Royal Welsh Show.
Powys Teaching Health Board has confirmed the vaccination and testing centre on the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd, near Builth Wells, has now closed after 17 months.
The centre has administered 62,000 doses since the vaccination scheme was rolled out.
Adrian Osborne, programme director for Covid-19 Vaccination and Test Trace Protect with Powys Teaching Health Board said: "The success of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Powys has only been possible because of the very generous support of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
"The Green Pavilion has been our home since January 2020, and thousands of people have visited for their first and second doses, first boosters, and more recently for their spring boosters."
However, he stressed that although the world has seemed to go back to normal "Covid is very much still with us".
He reminded to public that "outdoors is safer than indoors", and to also remember that if anyone exhibits symptoms then they should stay at home and help stop the spread.
Steve Hughson, chief executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society commented: “The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society was delighted to be able to provide our facilities rent free to support the vaccination and testing programmes as part of the fight against Covid.
"We are pleased that we have played a part in this successful programme, but now we must look ahead to our first Royal Welsh Show since 2019, which looks like it will be a bumper show.”
Later this month a new vaccination centre is set to open in Llandrindod Wells, in the former Welsh Government building, ready to issue autumn boosters, when eligibility will be confirmed by the UK's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Royal Welsh Show will open on Monday, July 18 and run until Thursday, July 21.
