A section of a busy main road in Newtown will be closed for up to 10 nights of resurfacing works which will start next week.

Motorists and pedestrians will not be able travel along a part of New Road from 7pm to 3am from Thursday, July 14.

Powys County Council, which manages the A4811 road, said the work is expected to be completed by Sunday, July 24.

When and where will the road be closed?

Powys County Council said work is planned to begin on Thursday, July 14, and will take up to 10 days to complete.

Initially, the New Road resurfacing works will be carried out on the section of New Road from New Church Street junction to Kerry Road junction.

During this time the road will be closed between 7pm and 3am.

The road from New Church Street junction to Dolfor Road junction will remain open with works planned on this section later in the year.

Where will the diversion be?

During the road closure, traffic will be diverted along Dolfor Road or Llanidloes Road towards the Newtown Bypass and then down Kerry Road.

Residents along New Road will be able to access their properties via a diversion.
