A COLLISION on the busy A470 through Powys saw a Mercedes flip onto its roof on Thursday, with emergency services called to the scene.

The incident happened at around 4.25pm on June 16 between Doldowlod and Rhayader, Dyfed Powys Police said, with the Wales Air Ambulance attending – although the driver involved in the accident was not taken to hospital.

The road was closed in both directions between Rhayader and Newbridge-on-Wye before reopening at around 7.30pm.

“At approximately 4.25pm on Thursday, June 16, a one vehicle collision on the A470 Doldowlod to Rhayader road was reported to police,” said police.

“The car was a white Mercedes and was on its roof. Fire and ambulance services, including air ambulance, were also at scene, and the driver of the car was checked by the ambulance crew. But the driver was not taken to hospital.

“The road had to be closed initially, but was reopened by approximately 7.30pm.”

Traffic Wales had initially reported the incident, saying emergency services were on the scene and asking people travelling in the area to find an alternative route.
