A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital following a medical emergency in northern Powys on Monday (June 6).
The Wales Air Ambulance were called to the Four Crosses area just after 4pm and transferred a cyclist to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, having first administered critical care treatment at the scene.
Dyfed Powys Police were also called to the scene but the force confirmed the incident was a medical emergency and did not involve a road traffic collision.
“I can confirm that the Wales Air Ambulance Charity attended a medical emergency in the Four Crosses area this afternoon (June 6),” said a spokesperson for the charity.
“We were mobile at 4.15pm and arrived on scene at 4.25pm. Following critical care treatment from our on-board consultant and critical care practitioner, we airlifted the patient to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, leaving the scene at 6.45pm and arriving at the hospital at 9.15pm. Our involvement concluded at 7.30pm.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday afternoon, Monday, June 6, at approximately 3.38pm to reports of a medical emergency in the Four Crosses area. We sent one emergency ambulance and the Wales Air Ambulance to the scene. One patient was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital."
A spokesperson for the police added: “Police were called and it is believed to be a medical emergency not a road traffic collision.”
