Two people who have volunteered decades to their community have been recognised for their hard work.
Ken Davies and Morfydd Meredith, two of Llidiartywaen Community Centre’s longest serving members, have recently stood down from their roles.
In recognition of their dedication to the community centre, Ken received an engraved Welsh Royal Crystal decanter and Morfydd was presented with a crystal vase at the centre’s AGM on May 12, 2022.
Ken was one of four original committee members who attended the first meeting when the school closed and a committee formed in December 1976.
The others there that evening were Austin Pugh, Frank Williams and Michael Davies. Ken performed the roles of vice chair from May 1991 to 1994, chair from May 1994 to 1996 and secretary from May 1997 until the 2021 AGM.
Morfydd was chairperson for 20 years from May 1997 to May 2017.
The hall is used regularly by the Llidiartywaen Young Farmers Club and has been used - among other things - for teas, gatherings, parties, first aid training and quizzes.
Llidiartywaen Community Centre.
Meetings and activities at the hall were curtailed throughout lockdown, but as things return to normal the committee is keen to publicise that the hall is back to business as usual.
Facilities include a well-appointed kitchen, parking, ample chairs and tables, table tennis and a no charge pool table.
The hall can be found on most web maps where the 'pin' drops for postcode SY18 6JT.
