A TWO-vehicle collision in Powys over the weekend resulted in two people being taken to hospital.
The crash – described as a “significant incident” – happened on the A489 between Newtown and Caersws at around 10.20am on Sunday, May 15, and resulted in the road being closed in both directions for several hours.
“We were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A489 Caersws to Newtown road at around 10.20am on Sunday (May 15),” said a Dyfed Powys Police spokesperson.
“Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. The road was cleared and re-opened at around 3.40pm.”
The condition of the two people taken to hospital is not yet known. The Welsh Ambulance Service did confirm that they did not attend the incident and it was likely that the West Midlands Ambulance Service were at the scene instead. They have been approached for comment.

“Road Closed. A489 Caersws. The following road is closed in both directions due to a significant incident,” Traffic Wales had tweeted.
“Emergency services are on scene, updates to follow.”
