THE A489 has reopened after an earlier closure due to a “significant incident”, with emergency services on the scene.
Traffic Wales announced that the road at Caersws was closed following the incident at around 11.30am.
Dyfed Powys Police later confirmed the incident was a road traffic collision; the force did not say how many vehicles were involved.
“Road Closed. A489 Caersws. The following road is closed in both directions due to a significant incident,” Traffic Wales tweeted.
“Emergency services are on scene, updates to follow.”
Dyfed-Powys Police said: "The A489 between Newtown and Caersws is currently closed due to an collision. If possible, please avoid the area and find an alternative route."
The road was reopened at about 4pm.
