A NEW art installation will be unveiled in Newtown on Saturday to commemorate one of the town's most revered sons.
The new installation began to take shape in Trehafren fields on Wednesday (May 11), with parts being lowered into place in the town.
Responding to the life of Robert Owen, who born in the town, the piece of art will act as a new focal point for the community.
Owen was a Welsh textile manufacturer, philanthropist and social reformer born 251 years ago.

He had envisioned a world of better conditions for workers and and an end to child employment with his ideas leading to many modern day scholars dubbing him the 'Grandfather of socialism'.
Designed and created by Howard Bowcott, the sculpture illustrates the warp and weft of a piece of textile. It is intended to reflect all aspects of Owen's history including some that are considered more problematic.
The writers Sadia Pineda Hameed and Dylan Huw have been commissioned to compose words in response to Robert Owen’s history through the lens of the 21st century which will be engraved along the side of the work.
The sculpture will be unveiled at a ceremony at 12noon on Saturday, May 14 - the 251st anniversary of the reformer's birth.
