DODGING a £40 train fare has cost two Powys men fines of almost £400.
Huw Hughes and Samuel Thomas Ryan, both 21, skipped out on paying a £40.20 ticket from Craven Arms to Cardiff on October 30 last year. The pair were travelling on a Transport for Wales train between Craven Arms and Cardiff Central, Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard on Thursday, April 21.
Both defendants were convicted in their absence of the offence of travelling on a railway without paying a far and fined.

Hughes, of Hill House Bungalow, Crossgates, was fined £113 and Ryan, of Cwmgilla Lane, Knighton, was fined £109.
Each was also ordered to pay £179 costs, compensation of £40.20 and a £34 surcharge – making a total financial penalty of £366.20 for Hughes and £362.20 for Ryan.
