Machynlleth Comedy Festival co-founder and organiser Henry Widdicombe appeared on BBC Radio Wales to give a preview of the upcoming event.
Henry, brother of comedian and co-host of The Last Leg Josh Widdecombe, made a guest appearance on Huw Stephens on BBC Radio Wales to discuss the upcoming schedule and give a preview of the acts appearing.
During the programme, broadcast on April 29, Henry and Huw discussed the challenges of reviving the festival after a three year absence due to Covid-19, why Henry first chose Machynlleth as the home of a comedy festival and celebrating eleven years of the event.
“I wanted to create this place that would centre the comedian, that could be sort of mysterious.
“No one really knew where Machynlleth was, so it feels like you have to make an effort to travel there.
“It creates an environment where the people who are there really want to be there, so it was built for the comedy purist.”
They also discussed several of the high profile acts as well as the undiscovered younger talent for whom the festival will be their first major venue.
Machynlleth Comedy Festival 2022 will run from Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1.
