A Bishop's Castle company has been recognised by Her Majesty The Queen for its outstanding achievements in international trade.

Jesmonite has been given the Queen’s Award for its outstanding short term growth in overseas sales over the last three years.

Since June 2018, Jesmonite’s overseas sales have grown by 108 per cent and now make up 45.7 per cent of all sales. The company’s top five markets are South Korea, Bahrain, Netherlands, Spain and Japan.

It develops and manufactures a versatile range of water-based composite materials ideally suited to the creation of moulded glass reinforced laminates and decorative mouldings.

Director Piran Littleton said the company is "extremely proud" to be given this prestigious accolade.

“The Queen’s Award is a huge achievement for this company and all the hard work of all our staff," he said.

“It is great to be recognised for the growth we’ve seen and we aim to further still develop our international distributor network as its next phase of growth, this is just the start.”

Judged by senior officials in Whitehall and experts from industry, the win means Jesmonite will be able to fly The Queen’s Awards flag at their Bishop’s Castle office and will also be handed an official certificate and a commemorative crystal trophy.

These will be presented by Anna Turner, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, at the business premises.

Jesmonite is one of four businesses in Shropshire and 14 across the West Midlands to receive the International Trade Queen’s Award.

There were 232 businesses representing a range of sectors across the UK recognised by Her Majesty The Queen on her birthday as among the best in the country.

Established in 1984, Jesmonite develops and manufactures a versatile water-based composite material which acts as a more environmentally friendly concrete alternative.

Small Business Minister Paul Scully MP said: “This country is renowned for its entrepreneurial achievements and there is no greater showcase for it than The Queen’s Awards.

“It’s vital we celebrate the success of our businesses and recognise the contributions they make to communities across the country.

“I congratulate this year’s winners for their hard work and commitment over the last year and I wish them every success for the future.”

Jesmonite, established in 1984, is based in Bishops Castle and develops a range of bespoke products and the company’s specialist engineers constantly seek to improve durability, resilience, and sustainability.
