POLICE are asking Powys residents to be on guard and spot signs of a rave taking place across the rural county this Easter bank holiday weekend.

Dyfed Powys Police say signs of a rave taking place could include an unusual number of vehicles suddenly being visible in the area, as well as illegal trespassers or people asking for access to land.

“This bank holiday spot the signs of a rave,” said the force’s Rural Crime Team in a tweet.

“Unusual number of vehicles in the area, illegal trespassers, people asking for access to land. If you suspect anything please click on the link for contact information. Patrols will continue over the weekend.”

Just last month, around 400 people were suspected to have attended an illegal rave in a remote Powys forest. Dyfed Powys Police confirmed they had responded to reports of a rave held in the early hours of Sunday, March 27, in a quarry located at the Halfway Forestry, near the village of Halfway, between Brecon and Llandovery, in the south west of the county.

Police said attendees had come from as far as Devon to attend and that the location of the rave was disclosed at the last minute on social media in order to prevent law enforcement shutting it down.

The rave was reported to police by concerned local residents and officers were immediately dispatched to the area.

A similar incident was reported to police on the August bank holiday weekend last year. That rave, which was held within a forest in the Grwyney Fawr Valley area of the Brecon Beacons, near Crickhowell, was believed to have been attended by around 500 people.

Police said people had travelled from as far as London and Essex to attend the Sunday, August 29, event, which had been reported after residents became concerned about rising traffic on minor country lanes during the early hours.

Officers attended the area and were faced with large amounts of people, with a senior police officer giving those left at the rave, between 200 and 300, a direction to leave the site.

If you feel something similarly illegal is going on this bank holiday weekend, report the matter to Dyfed Powys Police at https://www.dyfed-powys.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/.
