THE owners of a store involved in an early-hours raid on the Powys/Shropshire border on Wednesday (April 6) have said they are working with police.

McColls shop off the A483 in Pant close to the junction with Penygarreg Lane was targeted by burglars who attempted to steal a cash machine at the store at around 4.20am.

It is unknown if they stole anything.

A spokesperson for McColl’s confirmed that the store was closed and no colleagues were hurt.

They added: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance.

"This incident happened when the store was closed and no colleagues were thankfully hurt.

"We are working closely with the relevant authorities in response.”

West Mercia Police are investigating the incident and have made an appeal for anyone who may have seen anything, or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.

Officers believe a black or navy-blue BMW was involved in the incident and are asking for anybody who may have seen anything, or has dash cam footage, to get in touch.

And they confirmed a van found at the scene is being investigated in connection with the incident.

A representative for the firm that owns the van said it had been reported stolen on Tuesday night.
