A MOTORIST who was caught drink driving in Powys has been handed a three-month jail sentence.
Kieran David Ladkoo was handed the 12-week term of imprisonment – which was suspended for 12 months – because it is the third time he has been convicted of the offence.
The 39-year-old had denied the offence, which occurred in Hay-on-Wye on October 30 last year, but was found guilty after trial. At Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 30, he was also disqualified from driving for four years.
Ladkoo, of Folly Lane, Hereford, was stopped by police driving a Peugeot 207 Sport on the B4350 in Hay. He was arrested after a roadside breath test proved there was 99 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Magistrates said they were issuing a suspended sentence due to the nature and seriousness of the offence, the high reading and the fact it was aggravated by being the defendant's third conviction for drink driving.
In addition, Ladkoo must complete 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He was also ordered to pay £620 costs and a £128 surcharge.
