Two women from Powys are to embark on a week-long mission to offer aid and assistance to Ukraine, after a fundraising dinner was held to support their efforts.
Seba Dabadoo and Rahma Osman hosted a Syrian meal event at the Popty Clay Bakery In Machynlleth.
The dinner raised more than £800 to help Sara Wheeler and Vicky Rowe, from Llanbrymair, to embark on a week-long mission to offer aid and assistance to Ukraine.
The two mid Wales residents will be travelling to Przemysl on the Polish/Ukraine border on March 30 to provide some much-needed assistance.
Sara Wheeler said: “Seeing the footage of the destruction has broken my heart.
“We are excited to have this chance to help, but also very concerned, not due to physical danger but to bear witness to the trauma of the destruction and to meet the people and the families that have been torn apart.”
Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces over a month ago, millions of people affected have been forced to flee.
Aid agencies at the Polish border are dealing with thousands of arrivals daily and have issued an urgent call out for volunteers.
Seba Dabadoo and Rahma Osman first arrived in Wales as Syrian refugees and worked with Mid Wales Refugee Action to organise the fundraising meal.
Fund contributions are still welcome at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/saraandvicky
All donations will go directly to supporting Sara and Vicky's journey, aid agencies in Ukraine, and families arriving to the Mid Wales Area.
