A MAN and woman charged with the manslaughter of a Powys teenager will appear in the crown court next month.
Alun Anthony Titford, 44, and Sarah Jane Lloyd-Jones, 39, are both accused of unlawfully killing Kaylea Louise Titford by gross negligence.
Ms Titford, who was 16 and from Newtown, died on or about October 10, 2020. They are both also charged with one count of causing or allowing the death.
Mr Titford and Lloyd-Jones, both of Colwyn, Newtown, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 22.
No pleas were entered to either charge by the defendants, who will both now appear at Mold Crown Court on Thursday, April 14.
Both defendants wore face masks as they appeared together in the dock, speaking only to confirm their names, ages and address.
Prosecutor Helen Tench asked for conditional bail to remain in place for both defendants – namely to have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, and that any contact should be supervised by social services.
Owain Jones, representing Mr Titford, and Paul Inns, representing Lloyd-Jones, made no objections.
