A POWYS man accused of making almost 1,000 indecent images of children has denied three charges against him.
Peter Exton, 45, pleaded not guilty to all three charges put to him when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 8.
Charge one relates to making nine Category A indecent images of a child – Category A relating to the worst type of images. Exton is also charged with making 10 Category B images of a child and 982 Category C images.
Exton was arrested on August 15, 2019, when police officers seized a computer and mobile phones from his home. The offences are alleged to have taken place between September 10, 2010, and August 15, 2019.
Prosecutor Helen Tench said Exton, of Breiddon Way, Guilsfield, told police in interview in February 2021 that the computer had belonged to his ex-wife who had left the UK in 2014 and he had only used it to listen to iTunes.
The hearing was adjourned, with Exton’s trial set to take place at Welshpool on Wednesday, April 6.
