A DRINK driver will return to court in two weeks to put forward a special reasons argument for why she was over the limit following an incident that led to a car accident.
Emma Duffield admitted a charge of drink driving, as well as driving while disqualified, when she appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 19.
The 39-year-old also admitted driving without insurance but denied a fourth charge of failing to report a road accident. The prosecution offered no evidence in terms of that charge, but Duffield will return to court in February to put forward a special reasons argument for why she got behind the wheel on November 11 last year.
Magistrates heard doing so resulted in an accident on the A483 near Llanbadarn Ffynydd, involving Duffield’s Ford Fiesta. The reading of alcohol provided by Duffield, of Van Terrace, Llanidloes, was 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the prescribed limit of 35mcgs.
The case was adjourned, with Duffield set to appear before magistrates again on February 2.
