NEWTOWN Football Club have confirmed playmaker Lifumpa Mwandwe has signed a new deal with the JD Cymru Premier club.
The 21 year old has been one of the stars of the season since returning to Latham Park following his release by English League One side Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2020.
Mwandwe has played a key role in the mid Wales club’s superb start to the season with four goals and three assists.
Meanwhile his pace and trickery have further enamoured him to the Latham Park faithful and made him one of the stars of the league.
A club spokesman said: “We’re delighted that Fumpa has decided to extend his contact with us for the next 18 months.
“He’s made an excellent start to the season and has played an important role is our positive start to the season.
“We feel there is still a lot more to come from Fumpa and that he is in the right place to realise his potential.”
The commitment of Mwandwe is a further boost for the mid Wales club following the return of defender Ryan Sears.
Sears arrives after departing English National League side Grimsby Town after just sixth months and a handful appearances for the north east club who he joined from Shrewsbury Town in June.
Sears enjoyed a superb loan spell at his hometown club from Shrewsbury Town in 2018 and his return on an 18 month deal further underlines the ambitions of the club.
The Robins remain without a fixture until next month due to ongoing Welsh Government restrictions with the JD Cymru Premier set to resume next month without supporters.
