Urgent work will be carried out next week to remove a tree in a residential street in Newtown.
A sycamore tree's decayed stump in Barnfields has been found with a fungus known as Kretzschmaria deist which can lead to a "catastrophic whole tree failure due to a brittle type fracture".
A survey of trees along a verge in Sycamore Drive found that urgent work was needed for safety reasons.
Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council said that depending on the weather, work is expected to be carried out on Tuesday, December 14.
