A POWYS driver has been fined £200 for using his mobile phone while behind the wheel – leading to him not being in proper control of his vehicle.
Samuel Windsor, of Pentre Farm, Churchstoke, was sentenced in his absence for the offence, which took place on April 25 this year.
Windsor, 27, was driving a Seat Ibiza on the B4368 at Craven Arms on the day, when he was in such a position that he could not have proper control of the vehicle, as he was using a mobile phone or other hand-held device.
The hearing, held at Hereford Justice Centre on Monday, November 8, was told Windsor had previously entered a guilty plea to the charge.
He was fined £76 and ordered to pay £90 costs as well as a £34 surcharge. He also had three points placed on his licence.
