Powys projects that are leading the way to solve global warming challenges will be showcased nationally.

A nature-based solutions event will be hosted this weekend near Machynlleth to support the UN Climate Change Conference Cop26 in Glasgow.

Organisations such as Home-Grown Homes, the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust and the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership will share examples of best practice during a live-streamed event from the Centre for Alternative Technology on Saturday (November 6).

The event, which will include an introduction from Powys County Council’s leader, Councillor Rosemarie Harris, will be a series of short presentations, panel discussions and case studies from Powys based projects.

World leaders have today gathered at the crunch climate summit in Glasgow amid warnings that they must take urgent action to limit dangerous global warming.

Around 120 heads of state and government are set to attend the world leaders’ summit at the start of the Cop26 talks, where countries are under pressure to increase action in the next decade to tackle dangerous warming.

US president Joe Biden, European leaders and India’s Narendra Modi are among those attending the talks, although the heads of key major economies including China’s Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be there.
