PEOPLE are being urged to keep an eye out for arsonists in the Radnorshire hills following several reports of deliberate fires being set in grassland areas.
The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service say they have attended a number of recent calls to deal with “deliberate” grass fires being set in an area known as ‘the Rogo’, a picturesque patch of common land situated between Howey and Hundred House. It offers stunning views of surrounding Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells, as well as further afield, but the fire service is asking Powys residents to remain vigilant and report any criminal behaviour to Dyfed Powys Police.
“There have been recent calls to deliberate grass fires at ‘The Rogo’ in Howey, Powys,” the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said on its Arson Reduction Twitter page.
“Attending these calls puts a strain on the resources of our local fire crews and causes environmental damage.
“If you have information on those responsible please contact Dyfed Powys Police 101 or Crimestoppers Wales via crimestoppers-uk.org.”
