AN AREA of Newtown near to the river Severn was cordoned off by police on Saturday morning.
Several vehicles from Dyfed-Powys Police and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were seen parked at the Elephant and Castle Hotel in Long Bridge Street while they responded to the incident.
Both paths down to the river across the road from the hotel were cordoned off by police tape and a van from the police's Scientific Support Unit was at the scene.
The fire service confirmed that the incident was a police matter.
Dyfed-Powys Police have been contacted for comment.
