A MOTORIST is facing a driving ban because he hadn’t renewed his driving licence after moving house.
The driver was stopped in Llyswen, near Builth Wells, over the bank holiday weekend following checks by police, which discovered his licence had expired. Enquiries revealed the Ford Transit driver had moved house but failed to notify the DVLA – so notifications of his licence expiring were sent to his former address.
Dyfed Powys Police’s Roads Policing tweeted on Sunday, August 29: “Vehicle stopped A470 Llyswen and driver's licence was showing as expired.
“Enquiries reveal he had moved address and hadn't notified DVLA so in turn he had not received paperwork relating to his licence. Driver reported and vehicle seized.”
Motorists whose licences expired during the Covid-19 pandemic were granted an 11-month grace to renew but that accounted for photocard licences that expired between February 1 and December 31, 2020. This driver fell outside of this part of the extension.
