ORGANISERS have thanked everyone who tuned into the Virtual Royal Welsh Show 2021.
It was the second successive year Mid Wales’ biggest event was held online as opposed to the lush green grass of the Llanelwedd showground, just outside Builth Wells.
Show chiefs announced earlier this year that the event – the jewel in the crown of Welsh and British agriculture – would not go ahead for a second successive year, with farmers up and down Wales having to come to terms with the fact their annual pilgrimage to Builth would once again have to be put on hold.
The 2021 Virtual Royal Welsh Show was officially declared open on Monday by chair of council, David Lewis.
“Thank you to everyone who has tuned in for our second digital Royal Welsh Show,” said organisers in a statement on Friday.
“Yet again this year we have been blown away by the level of support from our sponsors and contributors, without whom we could not have been able to stage a virtual show this year.
“This event has given many who attended new skill sets, increased knowledge and an improved sense of awareness of a wide range of differing topics. This virtual show has also given regular show attendees the chance to attend events they would not usually get the chance to see, from the comfort of their own homes bringing back memories that they cherish.
“We hope that you have enjoyed the show as much as we have and look forward to welcoming you all back to Llanelwedd for the 2022 Royal Welsh Show which is set to be a bigger and better show than ever before.”
A new element for this year’s show was the introduction of competitions for the next generation of agricultural enthusiasts.
All of the entries in the 16 and under competitions can be viewed on the virtual show platform here but below are some of the results:
