TRAFFIC delays are expected on a stretch of the A470 in Radnorshire for the next six weeks after improvement works began today (May 17).
Work is being undertaken to construct a replacement safety barrier between Rhayader and Newbridge-on-Wye, at a section of the road near to a property known as The Holmes.
The road will remain open to traffic at all times throughout the six-week period, with the lane closed in the northbound direction.
Traffic Wales tweeted earlier: “#A470 between Rhayader and Newbridge-on-Wye. Lane closed in northbound direction to facilitate the construction of a safety barrier. Road will remain open to traffic at all times for the duration of the works.
“Planned works to start 17th May for approximately 6 weeks. Traffic management is required to ensure a safe working environment is maintained for operatives installing a new safety barrier.”
This work is to construct a safety barrier in the western verge, approximately 0.3km north of the junction with the A4081. No diversions are necessary, as the southbound carriageway will remain open to allow traffic flow to continue during this period.
