NHS workers are being offered a chance to relax and unwind with a free two-hour paddleboard session on Llyn Clywedog as part of big thank you from a local business.

Mavericks SUP, who specialise in stand up paddle boarding at the sailing club, is giving health workers the chance to take up the water sport at no charge during the whole month of June.

Andy Jobling said he was inspired to give something back to frontline key workers after speaking with a paramedic about their experiences with dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

"It's just phenomenal," he said. "Everybody in the NHS has been impacted by Covid, way more than you and I.

"I genuinely feel these guys have been at war against this horrible pandemic this past year. As a community we should be thanking them as much as we can.

"It's super relaxing and a nice thing to unwind on the lake. It's all exciting."

Andy said he hopes that the 'Stand up for the NHS' community project will spark interest with other businesses in the area.
